A podcast for true comic book fans
Revealed in the recently released March Solicitations from Marvel an upcoming arc of the ongoing Deadpool and Spider-Man team-up series Spider-Man/Deadpool is titled “Infinite House of Civil yet Secret Crisis War Invasions.” The teaser for this story reads that a “mysterious and omnipotent” villain will “restore the fourth wall,” which will “stop Deadpool from seeing and talking to readers.” The story will take place in Spider-Man/Deadpool #47 and #48.
This could be a major blow to the merc with a mouth. The story telling device of Deadpool breaking the fourth wall was first used by writer Joe Kelly in 1997. It quickly grew to be a defining characteristic of the character and is heavily utilized in the highly successful Deadpool movies starring Ryan Reynolds.
Like all things in comics, it probably won’t last forever, but we will see. Let us know what you think in the comments below, and don’t forget to check out Super Hero Speak’s Year in Review: https://superherospeak.com/wp/287-2018-in-review/
